I had just bought a 12' Jon boat (old Game Fisher...Sears) with an electric trolling motor, it was never registered, it came without any papers, the person that I bought it from is a real stand-up guy, so I know it's not HOT! I understand that as long as it has any motor on it, (electric or gas) it has to be registered! First, is this true? Second, is there some was of making it legal/registered so I'm not hassled. it does have serial # on the hull. no trailer, just the Jon boat. thank you, Paco _________________ Tight lines to all, but leave the bigs ones for me! |

Yes!!
Once it has power, it`s a motor boat and needs Numbers.
DMV has a form to fill out, it`s common. But you need serial #`s
and biil of sales Why? TAX`s..
Sound like Bass [Green] and Duck hunting. Have fun and be safe!

| I have a 10' Gamefisher and unless you paddle you need it registered. You will need the hull id number (back of boat). I also had a letter from the person who gave me it (notarized). Took me 3 times to DMV to get it registered. It came to about $30 for 3 years. |

the guy I bought it from had bought it second hand and doesn't have a bill of sale and he never registered it either. I understand that the original owner has passed, so there is no record of true ownership. how do I get a bill of sale from someone who never registered it? who truely owns it? _________________ Tight lines to all, but leave the bigs ones for me! |

I would get a bill of sale from the dmv website and then have the person you got it from fill it out.... _________________ "TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE" SHAKESPEARE
